St Jude's Chiropractic Clinic
            Hesketh Bank

Chiropractors are qualified health professionals who can assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions such as back and neck pain, minor sports injuries and sciatica.

Chiropractic treatment can be beneficial for a number of reasons; relieving symptoms of pain and discomfort, improving mobility and reducing disability associated with muscle and joint problems.

Many chiropractors will also provide lifestyle advice and exercises to help manage your condition.  This may include dietry and nutritional advice as well as strategies to manage stress and discomfort.

Finally, if you have any concerns about attending the clinic then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Pain management and injury rehabilitation

If any part of your body or vertebrae become misaligned then nerves may become impinged, compressed or stretched.

This could result in pain, discomfort or restricted mobility. A misalignment of the body or vertebrae can occur for many reasons, including incorrect lifting, driving or sports accidents, childbirth, falls, stress and poor posture.

The McTimoney Chiropractic Technique is a relatively gentle approach to adjusting the musculoskeletal structure. Through subtle adjustments, a chiropractic treatment can relieve pain and discomfort, increase mobility and provide a route for better health.

Consultation

At your first consultation, a medical history will be taken. The chiropractor will then outline what you should expect during treatment, including benefits and risks of treatment.

You will then be asked to consent to an examination and offered a courtesy gown.

The outcome of the examination will be discussed with you before proceeding to your first treatment.

Treatment

Do not be afraid to ask any questions to the chiropractor during your treatment. After the treatment, the chiropractor will provide you with some feedback of what they have found and discuss a treatment plan, including a review period for your on-going care.

During the course of the treatment, if the chiropractor discovers a problem that requires further investigation, they will always refer you back to your GP, with a letter explaining the reasons for referral.
